Effect of Cerium Tartrate on the Corrosion Resistance of Epoxy Coating on Aluminum Alloy and Its Mechanism

The inhibition effect and mechanism of cerium tartrate (CeTar) as a pigment in epoxy coating on AA2024-T3 aluminum alloy 3.5% NaCl solution were studied. Two kinds coatings applied the substrate, including single-layer with CeTar distributed uniformly double-layer composed an inner layer doped outer no CeTar. protective performances assessed by Machu test Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) technique. corrosion was analyzed X-ray photoelectron (XPS), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) Fourier transform (FTIR). results show that addition can evidently improve performance for long time (>520 d).
